Femme First Foundation in partnership with Youth Ki Awaaz launched "Women in Government Awards 2020" - India's first Awards for women politicians! These Awards recognized and celebrated women political leaders of India. In 2020, we have seen the remarkable way in which women leaders across the world have governed their countries during this unprecedented crisis. With these Awards, Femme First Foundation wanted to shine a light on our women politicians across various categories. We also believed that providing exposure to the outstanding work being done by women politicians on the ground will motivate and encourage more to follow the path. The Women in Government Awards strived to demonstrate the impact of women in political leadership.

The winners are:
1. Women in Government Awards 2020  -  Outstanding Sarpanch/Corporator - Ms Yasmin Kidwai, Delhi
2. Women in Government Awards 2020  -  Outstanding MLA - Ms Sowmya Reddy, Jayanagar (Congress)
3. Women in Government Awards 2020  -  Outstanding MP - Ms Diya Kumari, Rajsamand (BJP)

25 December 2020: Launch of Women in Government Awards 2020

 

25 Dec - 4 Jan 2021: Collection of Nominations

All citizens of India could send their nominations for any or all of the categories by using the submission form. ​

5 Jan - 15 Jan 2021: Voting period

After shortlisting the top 4 nominations received for each category, live voting began on the Youth Ki Awaaz  website.

17 January 2021: Announcement of winners

Nominees with the highest number of votes in each category were announced through all our social media platforms.

​

23 January 2021: Award Ceremony

A live online ceremony to felicitate the winners was held.
